Simplified Fable 26: Lupus et Sus

Now that I have finished the Segmented Grammar Commentaries on the fables (see the Complete Fables List for links), I'll be working through the fables again, this time providing "Simplified" versions of the fables. So, here is today's Simplified fable - Fable 26: Lupus et Sus, a story of a false offer of friendship.

The original version is as follows:

Parturiebat Sus; pollicetur Lupus se custodem fore fetus. Respondet Puerpera Lupi obsequio se non egere, oratque, si velit pius haberi, longius abeat; Lupi enim benevolentia constabat non praesentia, sed absentia.

Here are the simplified sentences as they appear in the slideshow:

Parturiebat Sus.

Pollicetur Lupus:

"Ego custos ero!"

"Ego custos fetus ero!"

"Ego custos ero fetus!"

Pollicetur Lupus se custodem fore fetus.

Respondet Sus puerpera:

"Tuo obsequio ego non egeo."

Respondet Puerpera Lupi obsequio se non egere.

Sus orat:

"Si velis pius haberi, abi!"

"Si velis pius haberi, longe abi!"

"Si velis pius haberi, longius abi!"

Sus orat, si Lupus velit pius haberi, longius abeat.

Lupi benevolentia non constabat praesentia.

Lupi benevolentia constabat absentia.

Lupi benevolentia constabat non praesentia, sed absentia.
