Simplified Fable 25: Auceps et Perdix

Now that I have finished the Segmented Grammar Commentaries on the fables (see the Complete Fables List for links), I'll be working through the fables again, this time providing "Simplified" versions of the fables. So, here is today's Simplified fable - Fable 25: Auceps et Perdix, the story of a captured bird who will promise anything to save her life!

The original version is as follows:

Auceps, retibus extensis, captabat Perdicem. Volucris illa captata supplicabunde illum rogabat ut se demitteret, promittens se in retia plurimas Aves allecturam. Cui Auceps: “Nequaquam hoc faciam, nam procul dubio me decipies, quae sodales tuos proditura es.”

Here are the simplified sentences as they appear in the slideshow:

Auceps retia extendebat.

Retia extensa sunt.

Auceps captabat Perdicem.

Auceps, retibus extensis, captabat Perdicem.

Perdix captata est.

Volucris illa captata est.

Volucris illa Aucupem rogabat.

Volucris illa supplicabunde Aucupem rogabat.

Volucris illa captata supplicabunde Aucupem rogabat:

"Me demitte!"

Perdix Aucupem rogabat ut se demitteret.

Perdix promittebat:

"Aves allectura sum!"

"Plurimas Aves allectura sum!"

"In retia plurimas Aves allectura sum!"

Perdix promittebat se in retia plurimas Aves allecturam esse.

Volucris illa captata supplicabunde illum rogabat ut se demitteret, promittens se in retia plurimas Aves allecturam.

Perdici Auceps respondit:

"Non hoc faciam."

“Nequaquam hoc faciam!"

"Me decipies."

"Procul dubio me decipies."

"Tu sodales tuos proditura es."

"Procul dubio me decipies, quae sodales tuos proditura es.”
