Fabula Facilis: Divinator et Latrones

Medio in foro,
circulator divinatoriam profitetur,
et inspectione manuum sortes auguratur.
Magna plebis turba stipatus est,
quam, incautam, suis praestigiis tenet.
Ecce: nuntius advenit et ei dicit,
"Effractae fores domus tuae sunt,
et latrones omnia diripiunt et asportant."
Circulator, hoc audiens, turbatus est.
Forum relinquit et ad domum currit.
Tunc quidam exclamat,
"O illusor et mendax,
si scis aliorum sortem divinare,
cur sortem tuam nescis?"

This story is based on 890. Divinator et Latrones.

Click here for a SLIDESHOW of all the Brant images. I really like the way that one member of the audience is pointing towards the thief as the crime is taking place - that's a wonderful way to translate the sequential events of the story into a single image making fun of the would-be fortune-teller.
